     Kittens and pups need your help and training to become well-behaved at home. All ages of pets manifest emotional and physical well-being through their behavior. Does it surprise you to learn that the leading cause of death among cats and dogs is euthanasia for behavioral issues?  Disgruntled owners turn "unwanted" pets into a shelter, but no new home follows. We believe that unwanted behaviors do not equal unwanted pets.     At Northwest Animal Hospital, we are committed to creating harmony between owners and pets through a sound understanding and interpretation of normal behaviors. Prevention is the key to good behavior. Cats and dogs learn what is rewarded and what is "acceptable" on a  24/7 basis, even though we do not think of ourselves as engaged in training on that same 24/7 basis. Realistic expectations for your pet and a home environment set up to foster good behaviors are essential.
