Nicole Hird, VMD, Diplomate ABVP Print

Dr. Nicole Hird”More than 30 years after receiving my V.M.D., I can't imagine a more rewarding life's work. I made my decision as a nine-year-old, because the dog I loved was dying. Knowing the loss, I find joy in the ever-increasing ways in which veterinarians can help pets and owners. Each year brings a deeper regard for the human-animal connection, one of life's true blessings.”

Dr. Niki Hird is a specialist in feline practice and a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Even so, she cares for both dogs and cats. In practice since 1973, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Hird has been a partner with Dr. Kolb since 1996, although at Northwest Animal Hospital for 20 years. Her two cats are 14 year-old mitten-pawed Maurice and handsome 4-year old orange tabby Batty. Two German Shepherds complete the animal family --- 7-year old agility dog Clover and teen-in-training 8-month old Excalibur. New grandson Felix is a charming guy, no relation to the caroon cat.

Besides feline medicine, Dr. Hird’s special interests include behavioral counseling and the new Kitten Kindergarten classes. Her professional memberships include:

  • American Association of Feline Practitioners
  • American Board of Veterinary Practitioners
  • American Pet Dog Trainers Association
  • American Veterinary Medical Association
