"Working to strengthen the human-canine bond using clear communication and mutual respect is very rewarding.
Seeing owners teach their dogs is immensely satisfying. I'm so lucky to love my job! Team NWAH provides the complete package!"
Rachel attained CPDT certification (Canine Pet Dog Trainer) in September of 2008. Details of the certification process are available at www.ccpdt.org. She is one of only 40 certified trainers in Ohio. She is a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
Rachel started teaching classes at Northwest Animal Hospital in April of 2007. She designed a flexible Puppy Kindergarten class that starts with a home visit. Level one and two obedience classes are taught as Teens & Beginners and Real World Obedience. Graduates of level one are invited to join a Games Class. Classes are fine-tuned regularly to meet the needs of the handlers and dogs and to incorporate the latest in positive training approaches.
Rachel stays up-to-date in behavior, attending the Ohio Midwest Veterinary Conference, the annual Association of Pet Dog Trainer's conference, and an array of additional educational meetings locally. As a clicker trainer, Rachel was excited to attend the Clicker Exposition in Cleveland in 2007.
Two rescue dogs from the Columbus Dog Connection inspire her. Raven is a 7 year-old border collie mix that came with her share of behavioral issues. "There's only one Raven!" according to Rachel. Doolittle is a 1-1/2 year old hound mix, who is playful, loving and mischievous. He makes her laugh regularly.
