    Get out and enjoy the sunshine.  Not sure where to take Fido? The Columbus area offers a wide variety of both public and private parks for your use. Whether it's acres of maintained grounds you're looking for, or just a hike through the woods, there is surely a park for you. We've featured some great choices below.

Local Dog Parks

 

Alum Creek Dog Park
Set to open in late spring, Alum Creek Dog Park is in the last stages of development. It is located on Hollenback Road in Lewis Center,OH. The Dog Park is being developed on a four acre site along the Alum Creek reservoir near the Alum Creek Marina. The grounds include a fenced area with water access for dogs that enjoy water sports, and two additional fenced areas for small and large dogs.

Bark Til Dark Dog Park
Bark Til Dark Dog Park is membership only, with a cost of $239 for a full year or $22 per month. A 3-visit pass is available for $30. The park is open 7 days a week and features a six acre fenced in plot, one acre pond, training areas, and plenty of events to keep you busy. To become a member, you must provide your dog's vaccination records and proof of spay/neuter. The Park is located at 1277 Hills-Miller Rd. in Delaware. For more information call (740) 369-9170.

Westerville Bark Park
Last spring, the Westerville Department of Parks and Recreation opened the first phase of their dog park at Brooksedge Park. As far as amenities, the park has a one acre area for large dogs, and an acre spot for small dogs, dog fountain and hydrants, as well as activity stations. The park is located at 708 Park Meadow Road in Westerville.

Pooch Playground
This facility, designed especially for the dogs, is located at Hannah Park in Gahanna. Free to the public, the park does not require patrons to be residents of Gahanna to use the facility. The park does not have a spay/neuter policy; however it does ask that individuals limit themselves to three dogs per person. The park includes about 2.3 acres.  Within the Pooch Playground, one-quarter acre has been separately fenced as a small-dog area for dogs 25 pounds or less. The playground is open dawn to dusk, and is located in Hannah Park in northeast Gahanna at 6547 Clark State Road.

Companion Club Dog Park
This park is another private facility set on 11 acres of fenced-in grounds along with a two acre swimming pond. Companion Club features an agility course, daycare, boarding, dog wash area, and on site certified dog training. Membership is available at a set rate upon proof of spay/neuter and vaccination. Companion Club Dog Park is located at 6306 Home Rd. in Delaware, Ohio.
