How Can You Bring Out Better Behaviors In Your Cat and Dog? Print

Northwest Animal Hospital offers puppy and kitten education during your visits, puppy and kitten kindergarten classes, training classes for dogs, behavioral consultations with our veterinarians, and an experienced class instructor who is available for private in-home training. Consider us an important resource for any behavioral issues you have. We do not call ourselves Cat Whisperer or Dog Whisperer, but we can and do help everyday.

Kitten Kindergarten Print

Cute Kitten Kitten Kindergarten is an early learn-through-play experience. Naturally, we cover the basics of kitten care. We take advantage of the short but critical socialization period between 7 and 14 weeks of age to build confidence, social skills and good manners. Meeting your kitten's needs, physical and emotional, creates a positive relationship that lasts a lifetime. Training a sit, come and high five are bonus features. Feline specialist, Dr. Niki Hird, is your instructor.

Watson Puppy SittingWelcome to our innovative exciting Puppy Kindergarten --- a program flexible enough to fit any family schedule!  All family members, especially children, are invited to join in.  This allows even more puppy and people exposure --- a true win-win situation.        

Puppy Kindergarten teaches you how to raise and train your puppy to be a great pet!  Capitalizing on the critical socialization period of puppies from 7 to 17 week of age.  Safe, positive interaction with many types of people and other puppies contributes to an emotionally sound pet.  Through play, puppies learn socially acceptable behavior.

All classes focus on fun, with short obedience practice mixed with puppy playtime and exposure to novel things. The last 15 minutes of each class are devoted to the important topics of puppyhood (house-training, chewing, etc.) and to your questions. At your final class, you are awarded your puppy diploma with a photograph.

Basic obedience is a necessity, especially for teenage pups, who can be challenging and taxing as well as delightful and sweet! Adolescent pups have boundless energy and a way to test all the rules.
Adult dogs are settled and know the ropes. Some retain the energy of the teenager, whereas others need reminded that exercise is good. Not only can adult dogs of any age learn new behaviors --- they thrive when their minds are actively engaged.
